Gorakhpur is a Lok Sabha constituency in the Gorakhpur district and Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh. Bharatiya Janata Partys (BJP) Yogi Adityanath won the seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections defeating Samajwadi Party\'s (SP) Rajmati Nishad by a margin of over 3 lakh and 12 thousand votes.In the 2004 Lok Sabha Elections, the constituency had 1,432,002 eligible voters, of whom 48.13% exercised their franchise. There were nine candidates. Election was conducted at 1227 polling stations, and 689,248 valid votes were counted. Yogi Adityanath of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was elected by a margin of 142,309 votes.Adityanath from party BJP managed to win in this assembly segment by securing 97,482 votes who was followed by Rajmati Nishad from SP and Ram Bhual Nishad from BSP. Adityanath also won in 5 assembly constituencies of Gorakhpur Parliamentary constituencies (but lost in 0 assembly constituencies).
